Cattle is very selective when referring to grazing. So, differences in weight and carcass quality vary from animal to animal in free range husbandry, where a minimum of variances is under control. This is the reason we paired with Dorper Breeders Association of Paraguay (Asociación de Criadores de Dorper, Paraguay) to establish a feedlot where to study the effect of three levels of NUTROGEN on live weight, use of the ration, and above all the icing on the cake: the amount of methane emitted by the sheep in each dosage.

The measurements will be carried out in situ in a controlled environment that replicates the outside, with evaluation protocols that involve methane measuring tools made by us. In this way we will also develop systems that can be applied in future projects in the region.
This represents a great advance for the industry in our country, being the most important thing that this can be replicated anywhere in the world.
Implementing the project requires a lot of effort. We have received generous support from WWF Paraguay and are applying to other sources of capital to complete the total of USD 60,000 that we require. Should you be interested in giving a hand to reduce cattle impact on climate, please contact us!
INTEGRA Biociencias is a research based startup. With this in mind, the horizon is full of promises. Other methane sources are swamps (perhaps equilibrated due to the undisturbed biological dynamics ocurring inside), irrigated rice (high release rate), non-ruminant farms, bioenergy, response of animals to different kind of forages, etc. These and other projects are to be faced in the following years.
INTEGRA Biociencias is a leading start-up in organic inputs such as fungicides, insecticides, fertilizers, and, with this project, methane reduction and applied microbiology, providing with solutions for the food and feed industries with high profitability. We use proper, local based technology and source materials to solve complex challenges for customers.
NUTROGEN Nutrition, despite being in pre-seed stage, is showing promising results so far, aiming to local GHG reduction and turning the results into issued carbon credits.
